Give guidance and feedback to students' plans, encouraging, refining, and helping them to be responsible for their own learning. Maintain high expectations for completion of chosen options. Summarize by reviewing the whole, bringing students "full circle" to the experience with which the learning began.

Students complete diaries and do self-assessment.

Objective: To analyze concepts taught within their own format.

Activity: Students complete approved project according to contract. First drafts are compared to agreed-upon rubrics. Partners pair/share, and critique each other’s work. The teacher provides feedback as
necessary.

Assessment: Teacher guide process (very little involvement).
