Establish a classroom atmosphere that celebrates the sharing of learning. Have opportunity for students to practice new learnings. Make student learning available to the larger community, i.e. books students write are shared with other classes, students report in school paper, student work is displayed at school, etc.

Have the children don their animal masks

Objective: To have the children sum up their learning in terms of care of the animals we love.

Activity: Have the children don their animal masks (made at the beginning of the unit) and assuming the role of their favorite animal, say three things about how they need to be cared for.

Assessment: Truth and honesty of their statements.
