Receiving Facts & Knowledge

Provide "acknowledged body of knowledge" related to the concept. Emphasize the most significant aspects of the concept in an organized, organic manner. Present information sequentially so students see continuity. Draw attention to important, discrete details; don't swamp students with myriad facts.

Lecture and multi-media presentation

Objective: Students will be exposed to several paintings by Jacque Louis David and learn how the artist attempted to build images and influence societies' attitudes.

Activity: 1) Teacher will show three slides of Jacque Louis David's paintings. 2) The teacher will call on students to answer questions about the painting that deal with description, analysis, interpretation and judgment. Special emphasis will be made to bring out how David influenced society and in effect was a 'propaganda' artist for Napoleon and the French Revolution.

Assessment: Students will be called on throughout the class to answer questions or offer opinions.
