Receiving Facts & Knowledge

Provide "acknowledged body of knowledge" related to the concept. Emphasize the most significant aspects of the concept in an organized, organic manner. Present information sequentially so students see continuity. Draw attention to important, discrete details; don't swamp students with myriad facts.


Vocabulary. The 3 R's. Read "The Wartville Wizard."

Objective: Teach students how they can make a difference in their environment. Introduce vocabulary.

Activity: Lecture using flashcards. Give examples using actual trash. Trace the path of a piece of trash. Where does it go? Make a flow chart. Vocabulary: recycle, reuse, reduce. Read "The Wartville Wizard" and discuss the story.

Assessment: Student feedback. Oral questions.
