Provide a metaview, lifting students into a wider view of the concept. Use another medium (not reading or writing) to connect students' personal knowing to the concept (i.e. visual arts, music, movement, metaphor, etc.) Involve learners in reflective production that blends the emotional and the cognitive.
What I Know
Objective: Students imagine the importance of healthy plants.
Activity: Draw pictures of plants and include what a plant would need to survive and be healthy. Play music and dance around the room as healthy plants (how would they fell if someone did/did not take care of them).
Assessment: Participation.
