Provide a metaview, lifting students into a wider view of the concept. Use another medium (not reading or writing) to connect students' personal knowing to the concept (i.e. visual arts, music, movement, metaphor, etc.) Involve learners in reflective production that blends the emotional and the cognitive.

Activities with metric base-ten blocks.

Objective: To practice the concept with another set of hands-on materials.

Activity: Have the students manipulate base-ten blocks from the metric multibase activity blocks set. Give the students several problems to work similar to those acted out in section one.

Assessment: Working several problems correctly using the base-ten blocks.
