Creating a Mental Picture

Provide a metaview, lifting students into a wider view of the concept. Use another medium (not reading or writing) to connect students' personal knowing to the concept (i.e. visual arts, music, movement, metaphor, etc.) Involve learners in reflective production that blends the emotional and the cognitive.

Create a nonverbal/non-numerical symbol or logo that represents number 3.

Objective: To deepen the students connection with the number 3.

Activity: Since the haiku had 3 lines consistently, students in groups of four will create a nonverbal/non-numerical symbol or logo that represents the number 3. Students will share their creations and explain.

Assessment: Quality of group work, level of interest.
