Encourage tinkering with ideas, relationships, connections. Set up situations where students have to find information not readily available in school texts. Provide opportunity for students to design open-ended explorations of the concept. Provide multiple options so students can plan a unique "proof" of learning.
Analysis of various paintings
Objective: Students will select another painting and use the acquired skills to evaluate its influence on society.
Activity: 1) Teacher will have other selected works of art with historical information prepared for class. These paintings will span a larger period and may include works by Valezquez, Goya, Picasso, etc. 2) Students will work in groups of three or four and use the same worksheet from 3L to describe, analyze, interpret, judge and determine influence on society.
Assessment: Each group will complete a worksheet and submit it for evaluation.
