Encourage tinkering with ideas, relationships, connections. Set up situations where students have to find information not readily available in school texts. Provide opportunity for students to design open-ended explorations of the concept. Provide multiple options so students can plan a unique "proof" of learning.

School Fundraiser Project

Objective: To have students experiment with the principles of estimation in the creation of a school fundraising project

Activity: Students develop a project to raise funds. The project must include a plan, an estimated budget plan that specifies the costs and potential profit earned according to the class-created rubric.
