Encourage tinkering with ideas, relationships, connections. Set up situations where students have to find information not readily available in school texts. Provide opportunity for students to design open-ended explorations of the concept. Provide multiple options so students can plan a unique "proof" of learning.

Objective: To extend the learning by having students apply the concept to a new situation.
Activity:
1) Work with a partner to create a skit to show what you might do at certain times of the day. Use a clock in your play.
2) Make a chart showing all the things in your house used to tell time (oven timer, clock, metronome, microwave). 3) Make your own clock using materials other than 2R.
4) Make a game that will help the class practice telling time.
