Extending Learning

Encourage tinkering with ideas, relationships, connections. Set up situations where students have to find information not readily available in school texts. Provide opportunity for students to design open-ended explorations of the concept. Provide multiple options so students can plan a unique "proof" of learning.


Students choose method to create cloud types and accompanying weather.

Objective: To extend learning.

Activities:

1. Working in a group, use a mural format to represent could types with associated weather.
2. After researching, create violent storms spawned by appropriate cloud types.
3. Using polyfill, create cloud types on mini posters and label with name of cloud and kind of weather it produces.
4. Create your choice of weather background, then attach appropriate cloud of your creation to the background.

Assessment: Appropriate weather with cloud types.
