Elicit non-trivial dialogue from students. Guide students to reflection and analysis of the experience. Encourage students to share their perceptions and beliefs. Summarize and review similarities and differences.


Sing "Old Hogan's Goat": discussion

Objective: To look at the idea of wants and needs through the example in a song.

Activity: Sing "Old Hogan's Goat" (an echo song). After singing, ask students the following: Who is the song about? (Old Hogan and his goat) What did the goat do to upset Old Hogan? (Ate 3 red shirts off the line) What happened to the goat? (Hogan tied him to the railroad track) What did the man want from the goat? (His shirt) What did the goat want when he was tied to the track? (His life!)

Assessment: Students level of understanding of what Old Hogan wanted and the goat needed!
